Hi guys, I'm another newbie from Townsville looking at setting up my first system. Will probably start small and take it from there. I'm a retiree with time on my hands and interested in computing, electronics and growing my own food. I tried a small hydroponics system a few years ago and the missus said they were the most expensive few mangy lettuce she had ever had. Also had a veggie garden some ten years or so ago with little success. I do have a vertical wall mounted (pots) herb garden which is doing well. Recently decided to start a permaculture garden but the fact that I have root know nematode in my soil and compost heap has really turned me off. I only recently found out about aquaponics and am over the moon about how much information is freely available on the web. You guys do a great job of helping each other out. We are not that much into eating fish but I do like the idea of minimal input, minimal day-to-day effort, and maximum growth potential - all on a small footprint. Looking forward to getting started and would love to meet up with any locals to see the experts do it. baileysw. |
