Hello i thought I'd finally join the conversation instead of just having a read of this great info you have all provided. Many thanx as it's helped to get my system together... Now just need some fish and learn more of the finer details.

Hello again, here a few more pictures, and thanks for being patient with my noob forum skills / this damn iPad... Anyways here's an idea that I picked up from Apollo's better siphon.. Standpipe Outflow extension to FT and my remedy to stop bell from floating around standpipe in outer sleeve.. A skewer... And just a few hot pepper cuttings ( Moruga scorpion) taken from parent plants in hothouse.. Enjoy

This was original concept, until I came into problems with pump/ water fluctuations so downgraded pump/ growbed size.

Looks good!

If you loose the two elbow pipes at the end of the standpipe, it'll keep the bell in place, allowing air to come and go. Will help it start and break better too.

Cheers, but I like the air- lock created from the elbows, I did try all possible ways, straight flow, bent flow... But this U bend works the best and breaks flow not a worry... It was the floating bell that's caused the drama and bed was in constant flood so skewer works for now..

These guys seems to be happy (before they become fish food) so I'm pretty happy.. Tho think I need more growbeds for media filtration ??? I really lost on GB to fish stock ratio.

http://www.aquaponic.com.au/calculators.htm

That's a pretty common gb/ft ratio calculator based on feed input.
