Hello everyone. I am from Chesapeake, VA USA. I have had 2 aquaponic gardens, well 2 stages of the same garden and in the process of building a third one. My first system was a simple NFT PVC tube system enclosed in a make shift GH with rubbermaid tub FT. It was amazing producing fresh greens and strawberries when it was in the 30 outside. We were hooked. We upgraded the GH to a permanent structure 10 x 16 x 14 ft high. I ran a 1000L IBC FT a trash can Swirl Filter and a trash can bio filter and the same NFT system from the small GH. This was an amazing summer until the tomato roots filled the 4in NFT tube and blocked flow. I was out of town and my wife couldn't get the roots out to cut them back. The NFT system continued to over flow and we lost all of our catfish. But that got us to our current build. 4 continuous flow beds, with set drains all gravity flow from a bio filter and a radial flow filter. The 1000L IBC FT will stay. The GB will drain to a sump and there is the pump the pump will pump to the NFT tubes and also back to the FT. That is my Aquaponics story. Hope to learn more and possibly help others.

Feel free to add input to my plan I am attaching. I call it my Gravitational Outlet No Overflow Water or GONOW.

Ben

Hey GH.....

Yeah tomato roots and NFT don't really mix well, you're not the first to have that problem.
