So I've bin doin a lot of reading/research, which seems endless, and this is what I came up with. I'm a DIY kinda guy so I made the bed from a concrete mixing tub and filled it with volcano rock "rinsed thoroughly" and planted assorted herbs from my garden beds, 28g galvanized bin with three 2in goldfish, and Argentine sward aqua plant my wife planted in the bin. Any pointers would be appreciated, Q: how many fish per gallons? can I run a timer in increments or does the water have to run 24 hours, i'm sure I could find more but if I don't stop it'll turn into a story.

That grow bed would also benefit from being filled up with more media! There should be a layer of dry about an inch or two thick, and more depth will benefit the root systems
