I am getting some black spots on leaves of my basil. Good news: I researched it and found it to be Bacteria leaf spot. bad new: No known cure. Suggest removing infected plants. I have done so. No the question- Since they say the disease spreads by water splashing from infected leaves to new leaves, and since we had over 3" of rain yesterday, is it safe to assume that the bacteria are spread throughout the whole system?

Does anybody have any experience with this and what are my options? I really like basil!
The only thing I've read about possible cures was copper spray, and that's not an option.
