Hey guys. I'm starting in the field. Working on creating a whole homestead. Ive currently got chickens (rhode island reds) they should start laying soon. I'm doing some fine tuneing research aquaponic. I'm about start small an get a little 20 gallon tank to practice with sump tank and a couple of plants. Looking at using channel cats. Eventually ill breed my chickens buy some goats maybe some rabbits.

I've found plenty of useful information here quickly and it will be nice meeting you all.

Cool, welcome to the forum. I am originally from Montegut, south of Houma. Rabbits are very easy, and we are hoping to get goats one day, but fencing is the main hold up.

Welcome Vampire! I don't raise anything out of the water yet, well, a teenager here or there, but nothing else.

Look forward to your setup. I think here, size doesn't matter. Isn't that correct everyone?

:naughty:

I find that everything is easy, once you figure it out XP, but the fun is trial and error (until your bank account says $0).

As far as fencing I was working at a factory producing plastic and collected choice pallets and have constructed a fence using them. Its still a work in progress honestly. The fence is there but still needs reinforcing to hold up to the 250 lb of meat and milk with the curiosity of a 3 yr old.

I still have fresh incite into that curiosity though as my son (only the one) who has recently terrorized the chickens will be four in October.
