Hi,

I am an interested Agriculture Teacher at a High School on the Central Coast of NSW.

I have the back-up of a super keen Science Head Teacher and a Principal who is showing some interest too!

I have been talking a little to another local high school that recommended this site for information.

We have located a good spot within the school (approx 3 metres x 7 metres) which is unused and seriously could be a great aquaponics site! It is right in the middle of our school office system (sort of a central garden type area which no-one has the energy or time to maintain any more!). It is open to the skies (but could be covered over easily if recommended) and surrounded by glass windows. It is surrounded by deputies offices, the Principals office and all our office ladies work areas.

Apparently we have some money and a progressive boss who would like to see the area used instead of just sitting there.

We are approx an hours drive north of Sydney.

I am after more information and support if I can get it - maybe someone to come and have a look and tell me if this is do-able and to get us started in the right direction.

Is there anyone that you would/could recommend that would be able to help in anyway?

The area is very secure being right in the middle of the school and is very visible obviously. The system would need to be very neat and tidy and I am guessing that signage explaining what is going on would be a great thing for not only our students but also for all the visiting parents and others who frequent high schools!

Our Science Head Teacher and the Principal are quite happy for me to do all the ground work and fact finding, but as an Agriculture teacher I am already flat out chasing pigs and cows etc around so I am hopeful that once we have a system installed and running that the Science staff and students will take over.

Thanks in advance - any help, recommendations and information would be very welcome at this stage.

Simone

Welcome Simone, there may be someone in your area that could visit you. There are also some school systems within the forum using the search function. there are a lot kids can learn from AP, I think every school should have one.

Thanks Charlie,

I've only just found the schools section - feeling very overwhelmed about it all at the moment but am keen to have someone look at it if possible and to help us to get started!

Are you more specifically looking for a design layout for the proposed area

Design layout, what we need, how to put it all together so that we get it right, right from the start. Whether it will work in the area we have in mind, costing, basically everything!
It will be on public display so will need to be neat and tidy and professional.
It is an opportunity to showcase aquaponics to our local community.
