I have been purchasing activated carbon but now i just stumbled upon carbon with an ammonia neutralizing blend on ebay. Also it was cheaper than the activated carbon. Anyone have experience using this carbon?

what do you need that for?
we want ammonia... it's all about the nitrification cycle

Why not pull some of your fish, or most for that matter and run a few plant growth cycles to naturally pull the ammonia out? Depending upon the size of your system and the number of gallons you are running, using that stuff could get quite expensive. Regular GAC would be considerably cheaper, and could be discarded or used elsewhere once breakthrough occurs.
