HI I just changed over to Kubuntu 14.4 and my daughter was here and took some pics and emailed them to me with her Samsujng Galazy phone. The pics came to me as a Zip file on Yahoo Mail. They unziped to a .jpg files but the photos are not compatable with the forum. any ideas. I did shrink them with the default photo program on Kubunto to 800 600.

Try opening them in a graphics program and saving them as a different format. png or gif

I had a camera once that didnt seem to take standard jpgs, but the gimp http://www.gimp.org/ software could open them even when other stuff couldnt. Then I could just export them to a different format, or even just save them as jpgs and they worked.

I have no idea if this is the problem, and sorry if you already know this, but if you just upgraded, I think Ubuntu disables upgrades from any non ubuntu sources to make sure you get a clean install.

do a search for "software updater" then look in settings under "other sources" to see if your driver software updates have been disabled by your last upgrade.
