Post subject:  New plan from north queensland

Hi all. So have been told by the better half she wants aquaponics and I'm all to keen to get started. Have access to free ibc's that used to have clean diesel engine oil in them. Can't seem to get any food quality ones where I'm based so will just have to give it a he'll of a good wash. At the moment just planning one one ibc as ft and then cut a second one for gb. Still trying to figure out what pump to get as don't want anything to expensive as system will at most only have a two year life being the length of my contract.
One question I do have..actually two is what is the grow rate of barramundi in very warm water I.e 29 and if I laid a second half size ibc and stocked it with yabbies how would you have the system set up? Is there any fish that would work well with yabbies.. I.e not eat them( hoping the yabbies would breed and become a regular meal as love them.). Will take pictures as soon as I get it all started.

Barra go well in water 23 to 32 c and fingerlings to plate can be done in 6/12 months. Starting with 50 mm fingerlings to 500 gram baby barra plate size. Depending on there growth rate you may have to size sort them so having two tanks would be better.
