New member here. Going to get my tank tonight, and do some structural work to my 2nd story deck this weekend to support my future system.

I know Tilapia are vegans, but I thought I'd pose the question since I live near the coast. Will tilapia eat dried mullet chum? Actually, I'm sure they will eat it...but does their diet have to be purely vegetarian? Any ideas if a mullet-based diet would be detrimental?

Welcome. Google Tilapia food find the protien-fat-fiber percent and compare it to the mullet chum. I don't raise Tilapia but they need a high protein diet to start and then more fiber if I remember correctly. You also have to consider trace elements that are in pellets that APers use to keep the plants healthy and producing.

Tilapia are hardly vegan. They are omnivorous. In fact, I have tried feeding my tilapia vegetables, they had no interest. Slugs, bugs, and worms... They go crazy.
