I had all 3 gb's and all towers draining to sump, but recently added 1 to the FT. No changes in any levels, so I'm wondering if I should run the others into the FT also? It would turn over the FT quicker. Also, I read somewhere about dropping the pipe down inside the FT and it adding more air?? Anybody that can confirm that?

I don't quite understand the question...

Are you planning to redirect all your GBs & towers into the FT and bypass the sump? So the flow would be GB/Tower -> FT -> Sump -> GB?

Or are you planning to just put the towers into the FT?

Are you running a CHIFT PIST? if so, then ST -> Towers -> FT -> GB -> ST should work great... and add the additional air you are looking for. But you should be able to just use the head presure from the ST -> FT and increase the fall directly into the FT and save the trouble of moving your towers and increased head pressure on the pump.

Hope that helped.

Towers still drain to sump. I have three Gb's, 1 of which i just switched from the sump to the FT. I was just wondering if it was better to run the GB's directly to the FT, opposed to having them first go to the sump? This will move more water in my FT, and with the one that has recently been switched, seems to not effect any levels(ammonia/nitrates) they are all still at zero. Yes on the Chift-Pist.

I don't think it'd make much difference really.

I just had a snoop on your pics thread. I'd say to drain into the tank that you're not pumping out of. So if you're pumping out of the sump, then drain into the FT. Give the maximum amount of water movement.

That was my thinking....more movement in FT, maybe slightly better nutrient distribution. Going to reconfigure my SLo from single opening 90, to a longer "T" with slots along bottom. Thanks Columnmn.

I'd say that if you have the choice then you have more vertical height in your system than you need.

It's very close...within an inch or so with current config. Sump is a bit low. Ft is part buried, but still higher then sump.
