I have just recently started getting into AP and am going to build a small indoor setup with goldfish to get the hang of things before I go big. I was thinking about doing an IBC system once I mastered the small scale. I have a question for the Dallas people, what fish should I use for an outdoor AP setup. I am thinking about using catfish. Our weather here changes so much I would love to hear some feedback from others. Thanks guys!

what are you goals with fish?

goldfish and koi are the most hardy outdoor fish,

If you want to grow fish to eat, catfish is a good choice but will outgrow an ibc on year 2. I also find them to be the more sensitive to water quality than "normal" scaly fish.

If you are ok with slow fish growth, bluegill or hybrid bluegill are very hardy and easy to raise.

I also grow Hybrid striped bass and large mouth bass in my systems, though jury is still out if i can get the hsb to last through the winter. I failed this year but it was special circumstances that i think maybe i can avoid in the future.
