Hello,

This is my first post to the forum although I have lurked for a long time. I live in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. I would like to start a Aquaponics system.

For my first system I will probably go with a simple IBC constant flood system. I intend to just use native plants that grow well in shade as I am on a North facing slope so don't have much direct sunlight. I will probably just start out with goldfish. This will be my first system so I want to keep it cheap and simple to learn to basics.

I have visions of eventually working up to a system that would include a greenhouse (for our cold winters), a CHIFT PIST aquaponic system with LED grow lights and mylar lined grow tents around the grow beds (remember I am on a North slope in a heavily forrested area). I envision growing trout in the cooler months, blue gill or catfish in the summer months and the full spectrum of vegetables year round.

Anyway, this is a great resource with tons of information. Any comments on the above proposal would be welcome. Thanks.
