Hello from Chicago!

I'm in the process of starting my first basement aquaponics system. I have a 24"x44"x7" Botanicare grow bed sitting on a shelf above a 55 gallon tank. I plan on using 24 or so net pots in the grow bed. Simple flood and drain setup with a 160 gph pump. I'll start out growing greens and herbs such as basil, spinach, bok choy and vegies - beans, peppers, hopefully tomatoes.

Tomorrow I will be adding water (using tap) and starting to cycle so that I can hopefully add fish within the next few weeks. (Any tips or recommendations regarding this step of the process are welcome.)

I'm excited to be a part of this forum and to be finally getting my system running!
