Hi all,

Aquaponic noob from Sydney here. I've known about aquaponics for a while now but only really been researching it seriously in the last month or so.
We already have a standard veg garden that the kids are really into but like the idea of the aquaponics system as well. We have a 12 month old plastic slimline rainwater tank that was replaced under warranty because of a crack in the seam. We were ready to dispose of it when we thought that it may be a good base for setting up an aquaponics system.
Basically I'm going to cut off the top section and invert it, cover and seal the inlet and overflow and use it as the grow bed. Then use the base of the water tank as the sump. I'll use a 1000l IBC as the FT and a pump on a timer.
I'm going to post a thread up in the builds section soon with my plans and will be happy to get some feedback as to whether I'm on the right track or not.
