I am a retired engineer who has a small ranch where I raise organic sheep (since 2003). In 2011, I added a small grape vineyard and this year I started raising chickens to control the grasshoppers which were eating my grape vines. In 2014, I intend to start growing fodder as a supplement feedstock for my animals.

Originally I was going to just germinate the seeds in a flood drain system and harvest after 7 - 10 days. After reading about aquaponics on this website/forum I have decided to try raising fish and plants. To this end I have purchased 6 IBC totes to start the venture (4 @ 330 gal and 2@ 275 gal). Once I get some experience I will go to a larger scale and build substantually more grow beds to be able to feed my extended family and provide more upplemental feed to all my livestock.

I have much to learn but find everything is easier when you just start doing and spend time listening to the experiences of others.
