Hi folks,

Just took delivery of a used IBC which I am going to attempt to construct a basic backyard aquaponics system.

Living in the outer south eastern suburbs of melbourne, i have no idea what the best sort of fish to consider growing might be, or even where to get them, so will be hitting up some of you guys and girls for any advice you can give.

My main plan is to grow some fish for eating, along with a range of chilli plants and herbs and maybe a few other vegetables to eat too. figure its worth a shot, sounds like good sustainable fun.

Any hints, tips, or just friendly shout outs always appreciated :)

I purchased it on ebay - it was being used for water storage by the people i bought it off, and they advised that prior to that it had been used for dairy based food.

They were out in box hill, and delivered it for an extra $35 on the back of a trailer. Theres a few on sale on ebay for between $80 - $140 and many will deliver for between $30 and $50 if you ask. Ive been looking for one that i was comfortable with buying at the right price for around 5 weeks and this one popped up.
