i would recommend startin with goldfish as they are not as expensive to loose as tilapia. Plus, you should check with the Dept of fish and wildlife to see if you are allowed to breed/rear tilapia in your area.

Welcome to the forum! If you're looking for redclaw farms, there are a couple in Texas... Redclaw Ranch, but their site is not up... hmmm, maybe they're gone. And http://www.texasaquaponics.com/

Good luck to you!

I think the Jewish dish "gefelte fish" (no way I spelled that right) is carp. So it ought to taste like that, I guess.

I think I've heard that carp is bony, but I don't see why you couldn't eat a large enough one.

Once you buy a few tilapia, you won't need to buy any more! Even if you think you are buying "All Male", there will be a few girls in the mix. You just gotta find them.

Welcome!

I hope you do well with your AP project. Make sure and post a thread on it under the Member's Systems or Location forums when you get it up and going. (Take lots of pictures when you are in the construction phase and then add as it becomes operational.) Expect a lot of questions and some helpful suggestions, and don't be afraid to ask questions. We've got a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people here!

Kevin
