Well not really a dream, a passionate full blown obsession with fish, aquaria and ponds and a new found curiosity. Nonsense aside, wow what a great forum I am thrilled to have found it.

I am currently based in Namibia, where water is pricey and fresh produce is plain expensive. So the notion of producing my own greens while getting to play with fish is just to tempting. I have been vaguely aware of AP for a while now but it was once I stumbled onto this forum that the mechanics of small to medium setups began to make sense.

As I set of on this venture I have a few criteria, completely solar powered be silly not to use the sun out here. To minimize evaporation and water loss. So basically as self contained as possible and with intent to make it a viable food producer. If I wanted to spend money on water features and plants, ponds are less foreign to me. So I am going to rely on a lot of scrounging, DIY and I suspect trial and error.

It will also likely be slow of the ground as I need the spare change laying around for solar setup and some sort of green house design that will minimize water loss. That may well end up being shade netting though, much as I love fish I know nothing about plants, yet.

Anyway enough rambling from me, just thought I would say hello before I start asking silly questions all over.
Thanks for having me
Brian

Hi Slowdive,
I just registered & saw you're from Namibia.
Are you still in Namibia & how's your project going?
I'm located on the coast. Also planning on starting something similar.
