Jumping in with both feet, and a set of wheels.

I've been interested in small farming ever since - well, since I was a child on Dad's farm. He thought women/girls belonged in the house, and then he and I got into raising goats, after I was all grown up with kids of my own. Then life happened, and I lost him and my income, and then lost the use of my hips. So, I need an income, because I'm going to starve on SSI. I really want to get back into farming on a small scale level. Besides the goats, I've also raised Florida White Rabbits and a variety of chickens, but currently, don't have the set up for either where I now live.

Two winters ago, I got into container gardening. I was thrilled with the outcome, having never raised anything other than flowers in pots before. Vegetables belong in the ground! Broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, kale, and Swiss Chard. I found out you can eat the leaves of the first three listed. They taste great, and there was enough to fill one shelf in the upright freezer!

Unfortunately, the containers blistered/dried out/fell apart in our hot Georgia weather, so I have to start over. Here's a pic of my setup:

I have I was browsing the internet one afternoon not too long ago, and came across aquaponics. What a fantastic idea! I totally want to get into that! Plus, it's up high enough that I can reach the food! :D

Anyhow, I have been doing my research, and last night, I found this forum. You folks are amazing!! :headbang: Thank you for sharing your knowledge. :notworthy: I am so stoked, and will be absorbing the information, and hopefully in the not too distant future, will have my own AP setup!

Now, if someone will just direct me to the thread that explains all the abreviations, I'd appreciate it!

That is the link you asked for. http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/information/glossary/
It explains all the abbreviations.

Good luck! I'm new too... dirt gardener, amazed as you are by all the documented research and photos on this forum. Ask questions, the members have a lot of passion and willingness to share.
