Hey, I'm Landing.....hows it goin? So, I've been obsessed with aquaponics for some time now but have been unable to put any of my ideas into practice for various reasons over the years. I'm finally able to now and below is a quick video of my first attempt (currently cycling). Any input or criticism - cringe - on my (evolving) set up is appreciated. The Set Up: 1 grow bed 4x2 2 bags hydroton (clearly not rinsed as thoroughly as it should have been) 1 55 gallon food grade drum 2 240(or so) gph pumps with 1/2 inch hoses 1 Jager heater 1 12" airstone 1 8 lamp t5 fluorescent light 12 koi fish fingerlings I look forward to learning all I can from this board and hopefully making some buddies in AP |

landing nice to meet you, im a jersey boy that moved to sunny florida about 5 yeas ago..im running a system using the following: 55 gal drum as my fish tank, one half of a 55 gal drum with foam blocks at base covered with crush coral, river rock and pea gravel the fish im using are goldfish and crayfish plants that are in the one bed are: okara, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, mint, parsley, peppers, so far from what i seen the mint is taking root ,it was a clipping from a plant, the others were all grown from seed in potting soil til they were sizable to be added to the bed... best of luck and share your success |
