For weeks Ive been reading these forums and getting lost in multi year 50-100 page threads of members systems.

I thought Id love to start a multi IBC system, but then realised it could get complicated and expensive and I ran out and got a blue barrel to start a simpler first system. took me about half a day. cut the barrel, bought some gravel, pump and made a siphon, not pretty, but working great so far.

Planted some garlic bulbs, and pulled some spring onions that had been in a dirt bed for ages and haddn't grown. Garlic has shot up about 4inchs in a week. while spring onions havent done much, but are finally standing up a bit straighter.

Currently running with some seasol and pee. and waiting on an API test kit to arrive before i think about putting fish in it. grow bed is about 50l with fish tank about 130l. will probably look at keeping this system seperate from future system and just keep goldfish in it with herbs. wondering how many to start with, and what size to buy? was thinking 5-10, but heard they can get quite big.

also, here is a sketchup of my planned ibc system.

Nice placement, especially with the fish tank under the eaves (or so I hope it is). Just wondering about your pipework... going to run that along the fence from the FT, then into the GBs?

welcome btw. :D

yeah its under the eves, but will still have a cover on it to keep cats out though.

Not sure exactly on pipework yet, it will eventually be a chift-pist system, likely along the side fence. One problem i see at the moment is, just around the corner of the house, before the mesh looking fence (its actually normal fence but 'hidden' in sketchup so ya'll can see the FT) is the power and gas metre box. so some dude has to walk around there every couple months (not sure how often actually.??)

that system wont be happening for a couple months though, ill be slowly trying to acquire some bargins and clearing the space, I hope to get it ready before spring so will start another thread when its actually coming together.. :D
