OK, I know a lot of you are groaning and probably think that nothing is easier... but I'm new to all this and this is my first time growing things from seed. We are trying 2 ways in hydroponic solution on a floating raft (like the krakty method) The second way is in potting compost. (I must add that it is just coming to the end of summer and it can still get quite hot in the day) The hydroponic raft is very poor weak spindly plants whilst the ones in the potting compost look healthier but are very slow, not showing much growth.
What do you think the problem might be?

Are you using seed raising mix or potting mix? I've found seed raising mix to work better for starting seeds. Also make sure they're getting enough light.

I'm using a general type of compost soil mix and have started using surface slow release nutrient pellets. Also I use water straight from the tap as this is more or less PH neutral whilst the water in my system is still very high. They are in the light but protected from the sun by a net canopy
