 Good morning to everybody. Here are the latest figures and some pics' I think we are cycled and we will be introducing the fish ahfter the holidays (Monday/Tuesday)
22/03 22.00hrs intro' 2nd dead fish.
23/03 10.00hrs (Fish + 12hrs) PH 7.8 Amm 0-0.25 ppm Ni 0 ppm Na 10 ppm
23/03. 17.00hrs (Fish + 17hrs) PH 7.4 Amm 0.25 ppm Ni 0.25 ppm Na 10 ppm
24/03. (Fish + 40hrs) fish out. PH 7.8 Amm 0.25/0.5 ppm Ni 0.5 ppm Na 10/20 ppm
25/03. (2nd day no fish) PH 7.8 Amm 0-0.25 ppm Ni 0 ppm Na 0-5 ppm
At first I thought the low readings were due to the fact that the fish wasn't giving up any ammonia, (because the first fish after 1 day gave readings of 1 ppm ammomia and after 2 days 2ppm of ammonia)
It took a while for the penny to drop, the readings were low because the cyle was working. So to prove it I introduced 25-30ml of aged urine.
26/03. PH 7.4 Amm 1.0 ppm Ni 2/5.0 ppm Na 10/20 ppm
27/03 06.00hrs PH 7.2 Amm 0.25 ppm Ni 0.25 ppm Na 5.0 ppm
27/03. 17.30hrs PH 7.8 Amm 0 ppm Ni 0 ppm Na 0 ppm
Added 20ml Aged urine
28/03. PH 7.8 Amm 0.25 ppm Ni 0.25 ppm Na 0-5 ppm
I was also worried at first because the nitrate readings were so low but DUH!!! what do I think the plants are eating. We planted some tomatoes and a lettuce to see what would happen and the results are impressive (to me anyway) I've put in some pics' these are after 17 days in the system. The lettuce has only just started to move, it was static up to the beginning of the week. On the biggest tomato plant we have our first flowers. I am very happy and confident that I've stumbled on something close to natural perfection. If only all the bullshit in the world could be converted in the same way.
