Hello all! I am brand new to the forum. I actually just discovered the world of aquaponics last week via Youtube. I have a reef tank so I'm not new to fish keeping or water chemistry. But I watched a video where a guy had a system setup in a greenhouse. I thought it was really cool and the ideas were endless. I'm thinking about a functional yet aesthetically pleasing setup. So would it be possible to have an aquaponics system that is functioned via a nice koi pond? A koi pond plumbed to a nice looking greenhouse full of various vegetables and herbs? Or perhaps the koi pond in the greenhouse? Is that even feasible and if so, does anyone know how you might go about doing that? Are there any really good build threads where someone has already done this or performed something similar? My excitement is through the roof right now!!! Thanks for taking the time to read!

Sincerely, Dean

Thanks mantis! Do you know of any build threads similar to what I proposed? Should I post this under a different topic in order to get more feedback? Thanks for the help! :D

There are heaps of greenhouse build threads (mantos for one), and also a number of threads incorporating decorative ponds into a system. Do a forum search, and if you can't find what you need, come back and ask again.

Me senses many hours of reading ahead.

I'm sure a number for people will post links anyway.

Welcome braves.

A good place to start is the IBCofAquaponics. You will find a link for it at the very top of the page. While this might not have exactly what you are looking for, it will give you a solid base to start upon that will make it much easier to understand what people are talking about. AP seems to love its acronyms

Once you have the basics covered you will probably find that you have a fairly solid idea about what you want and it then just becomes a matter of making it work. Everyone here likes puzzles :)

Thanks for the replies. I'm slowly trying to learn everything I can. Will be working with google sketchup to design my very own setup! I've never used it before so it might take a while.
