Hello Board!

I am a long time lurker, first time poster.

A little about me, I own and operate my own business as a personal chef so obviously the ability to grow my own organic food is really really exciting! I specialize in whole food plant based nutrition, vegan, and vegetarian diets for my clients. I am very passionate and active about sustainable food growth, NO GMO, organic, and local food production. Aquaponics is on my mind all the time, and I am really excited to start getting involved in conversations with more experienced AP'ers.

I am about a week away from getting water into my system and start cycling, a few minor details to finish before I go live, and I cant wait. I will be posting pictures soon of my DIY greenhouse and system, which to date has cost me roughly 300.00$$ I know, hard to believe, but true. Thank you craigslist.

Its similar to one of Murray's chop systems, three IBC growbeds, fish tank, and sump. Not sure how many liters that is in total, as I cant recall at the moment what size my IBC totes are. I plan to raise trout, and a variety of vegetables. I am also starting another separate system for herbs only, using one IBC container, and One grow bed.

Anyhow, Thats all for now!

Cheers from the beautiful west coast of Canada!

Campbell.

Hello Campbell,

I know your post is a couple of years old. I'm hoping you're still staying in touch with the forum. I live in Sooke and am looking at starting an IBC aquaponic system. Are you still operating yours? I was wondering if you could tell me where you sourced your IBC's out on the island? Also, it would be great to meet you and take a look at your set up. Cheers.

Hi,

I'd be really interested to find out about where to get food-grade IBCs this cheaply - almost ready to pull the trigger on my setup in Victoria and would appreciate knowing when I need to expand.

Andy
