Hello,

I’m from Portugal and I just started my first aquaponics system. I collected information and ideas from this forum, youtube and view all Murray Hallam DvDs. Well I have been reading this forum for about 5-6 months or even more.

I plan to start a tread with my system so I can also contribute with information. I believe that this way of producing vegetables and fish can be the future way to produce it in cities around the world.

Still building my first system as well, but should be ready before 2013.

Please let me know if you find seaweed extract for sale anywhere! I'm going crazy looking for it.

Hi Ryan,

Thank you for the welcome and wish I was in Florida ... never been in USA. Also never seen an Aquaponics setup lives (except my one now). Joao is a very common name in Portugal probably as common as John for the English speaking.

I will try to start my tread soon so everyone can have an idea of my backyard setup.

Thank you for the welcome. I have to tell that I’m very happy to see others Portuguese starting Aquaponics setups. Regarding seeweed extract I never see that in any shop but you can always try to get it online. Some things I don’t look in conventional shops anymore. Some sellers even look suspicious at me when ask for some products.
To start my system I used old aquarium water (from water exchange) mixed with tap water (this was 2 weeks ago). Now I continue to add old aquarium water and I have 6 goldfish. Added compost worms to the beds and will start to use worm tee. That is my idea on how to add nutrients to the system.
