Any feed back to using a new one of these as a fish tank, 2500 litres

I am not an engineer, but they look ok to me.

The only thing you may have to watch is that they have probably been designed to gain structural strength from being buried. So if they are above ground, they may not be as strong as intended.

Oh, and I would suggest buying one second hand.....

Thanks Sam. Can I assume you meant not to buy secondhand? The place I am getting it from has it new as a non required order. Just worried if having a black tank could be detrimental to fish and sunlight but also the flip side against controlling algae would be advantageous. I am planning to part burry as the tank is self supporting buried or not and at $10.00 per 100litres seems reasonable

how tall is it? looks pretty tall - will it be easy to catch fish/debris etc from the bottom of it? It would be handy if you wanted to set it up with a SLO feeding the GBs. What other sizes do they come in?

Height and diameter would be handy to know, you may want to check what grade poly it is made from incase somethink could leach into your water supply.

Comes with a lid so that is handy and by the looks it has a large outlet for a SLO.

Also worth checking it is UV stabilised.

Deal done. Turns out its the 3000 litre model. It was either buy or miss out. My mate owns the plumbing shop and it had to go. It's UV stabalised HDPE. spoke to everhard who make the tank and its made from the same HDPE pellets that they rotomold water tanks from.

Ooops... was just gunna add that I wouldn't being a septic tank and not food grade.. They tend to make septic tanks out of all their scraps.. But some people don't mind that, each to their own...

Being non food grade was a concern but with assurances from Everhard that as you said it's made of scrap its the very same HDPE that they use for their water tanks and your correct it is scraps of all the rotomold tanks that don't form right or are damaged. They cut them up and re pelletise them combine them all together and you get black. Oh we'll I don't have an issue with it and it was a hell of a lot cheaper than an "aquaponics" fish tank. Time will tell. At least it's not a use tank. That I would have trouble with
