hi all,

new here, but not that new to aquaponic, i've known aquaponics since 2 years ago i think, from youtube searching for an effective ways in growing vedgies in small plots. found affnan( you must have know that guy :) ), then trying to do this and that with what i have.

my in laws have a small concrete swimmingpool(1000ltrs maybe?) for kids use that have been empty for years since it was from the childhood times of my wife (20yrs ago), and i was keeping some turtles in there. and from my snake breeding times i still have 2 tubs (kinda like the rubbermaid thing, 50x30x30cm) and some big unbreakable buckets(pvc). so there goes, connected it all with some tubes, using one pump only and some valves and "t"s and old pipes, creating a bell syphon and tadaaa, 2 tubs and a bucket system haha

the tubs are filed with pumice stones i got laying around, theyre to big for my opinion(3-5cm), but they did their job quite well, one tub is filled with celery, and the other one with kangkung (water spinach?), i wasnt expecting much for this actually, but heck, within weeks they grew soo much my turtles are getting fat from kangkung alone :P. at that time i put some tilapias and catfishes also to the pool , then i started to notice more growth. its been quite some times now, celery still growing well, kankung have been replaced with mint and some tomatoes(already out of tomato now, so only mint), fish have been replaced for sometimes, after being eaten haha.what i have inside the pool now is 5 tilapias, 20 tambaqui's, and some catfishes. turtles have been moved to another pool :P

i am trying to build a new setup with fiberglass tubs (150x60x25) and smaller pumice stones (1-2cm), i have ordered the tubs, and pumice stones, planted seeds for the new tubs,(tomato, water melon, pepper, coriander, etc)

photo's will be added when i ave time to take them ahaha

nice to know you all

Saya berasal dari Australia, dan belajar bahasa di sekolah.
I've been doing a bit of work for the Malaysians lately, so my Bahasa is better, but also contaminated by their crazy mixture of every language in the neighbourhood.

Yeah i noticed it now hehe

2nd try
Image

I got 2 85ltr tub( left and middle),and a bucket (right), pump wit 4 outlets that goes
To each tub and bucket and another one back to the pool.

Tub 1, mostly a celery bunch that haw been growing and eaten alot for the past 1,5 yrs and a taro fmily thats there just to fill it up.
Image

Tub 2, was full of kangkung , now the home of some
Mint cuttings ad some hibiscus cutting( experiment that so far goes very well)
Image

Bucket with dwarf papyrus, this one is a constant flow tub with no media since its root are very big, first time was only a plant with 5-7leaves just being hold down with some Stones, now its full
Image
I

3rd outlet that goes to the pool, you can see one of the 2 adult tilapias that are waiting to be eaten there haha. Water is clear only the sides is full with algae, buts its
Good since the tillapias kinda eat them also :). The red bellied pacu's are kinda hard to see in the evening haha
Image

Sorry for the darkness and blurryness, ill try to make abetter one tomorrow ;)
Oh yeah and you can clearly see how big the pumice stones are
