Post subject:  Good afternoon from South Korea

I am living in South Korea due to my choice in occupations. I will be relocating back to the States in the near future, southwest Louisiana to be exact. I am extremely new to HP and find the entire idea fascinating. My wife and I are planning to retire in northwest Montana or northcentral Idaho in about 7 years or so.

We are planning to retire on roughly 40 acres with a grid-patched solar system. We are hoping to have one or two natural springs on the property and are currently looking into man-made pond construction. Much of the soil in the areas we are looking is not very suitable for traditional gardening as it is very rocky.

Which brings me to my research into HP. We originally planned to do the bulk of our gardening within a large greenhouse, however; I really like the idea of HP for all our vegetable needs. We are also planning to heat the inside of the structure via thermal-mass structure with water pipes run throughout heated by a solar setup. Our eventual plan is to be self-sufficient in our fruit/vegetable/herb needs.

I am currently researching everything I can find on AP so that we can start a small "prototype" system once back in the States. I really believe that this form of agriculture lends itself to use in the colder northern states. I am very excited to learn more about it and begin work on my own system.

Thanks for reading my ramblings and I look forward to reading/learning much more via this forum

Have a great day,

DannyRingo

Hi DannyRingo!
My pleasure to meet you, I'm new here as well. I'm from NY and now living in Washington.
I've been to South Korea twice while going to a business trip. I certainly enjoyed my days there.
I hope you are having a good time on the forum.
