Hi there folks,
My name is Andrew and I am just setting out on a grand learning adventure. I am looking to meet other like-minded people with whom I can help spread the sustainable message as far and wide as possible.
In just one week I will be journeying to the USA to work with some very passionate and motivated people to start building my first ever Earthship and cram my brain full of sustainable goodness.
I will be interning and participating in an Earthship build at Biotechture Training in Bullard, East Texas (www.biotechturetraining.com). The folk over there are fusing a bunch of wonderful technologies including a strong focus on Aquaponics which I am really looking forward to.
During my recent time in Latin America I have noticed a culture of ignorance as far as sustainable development goes and an abundance of natural resources that urgently need protection.
For this reason I am planning to return to South America once I have become a powerhouse of sustainable information  and starting a community of like-minded individuals with the aim of educating as many people as possible.
If you share a vision of change or just a maker-geek streak and want to share tips on getting the most out of this important field of development we should talk.
I look forward to linking up with you all and sharing ideas for the future.

Welcome Andrew. The best suggestion I can think of for converting course-knowledge to real world is to build some systems.

The site you link covers a very broad range of applications of many different ideas - you will need more than a short course to become sufficiently expert to be able to help others even if the longer course takes you through all the systems involved.

Also, I am unsure of the value received versus the value given - you pay $900 for tuition but are basically providing free labour for their business AND providing all your own living arrangements. (the 'dry camping' provided along with the other disclaimers makes it fairly clear you will be pointed at a piece of ground to live on)

Not wanting to be a wet blanket here, just pointing out that I doubt very much you can go from that course to South America and start your community without a lot more practical expertise than you will get on a course.

Getting hands-on experience will be essential in being able to help others set up and run their own versions of such wide-ranging technologies. You need a deep understanding of how the systems mesh and how to overcome problems that may be site-related, supply-related or running-a-business-related.

Hey Andrew... I love earth ships, very cool, can see that an AP system would do well at the front near the other gardens cleaning waste water..

Ahhh more aquaponics trainers with no experience offering paid courses for people to come and build their first system, and using others images again.. Bit disappointing..

edit - you just beat me JM
