Hi all,

New here (obviously) so thought I'd do the right thing and say g'day.

Discovered this site just a couple of days ago, had a good read and downloaded the newsletters to read later. New to this - I don't have a system at present, but doing the research to get one built later this year when I do up the back yard.

Found my way here as I'm into home-grown, organic, fresh food and love freshly caught fish. Funnily enough saw an ad for an aquaponics system at my kayaking club as one of the members was involved in it - had never heard of it before. But the concept hooked me as I have a 'normal' herb and vege garden and had thought of doing some sort of fish-growing tank one day. Here was a chance to combine both passions!

I'll no doubt have plenty of questions, and will aim to post my build process as I go - need to build a new back fence and chicken coop first, but that gives me time for planning.

Ideally I'll set up one or two tanks for trout and yabbies and then a couple of growbeds. Still working out layout, materials and dimensions, and so on.

Hope to post more soon and looking forward to learning heaps.

There are a few here from Melbourne. The addiction is pretty bad and can only be treated by expanding ones system... sorry!!

do as much research as you can and then do a bit more... be prepared to lose a few fish but its worth it in the end!!
