Hi All,

Just wanted to say a quick hello from Thailand, after spending the last 2 weeks soaking up as much info as possible on Aquaponics (including buying all 12 editions of your excellent magazine) I'm at the point of setting up my first system.

I plan on using a IBC for the fist setup - just trying to find one where I live now...

I'll post piccy's as and when available, I actually own a hydro company back in the UK so that side of things is fine - but never grown a fish before so will probably need a fair bit of help on this side of things at first...

Looking forward to to some healthy plants and happy fish!!!

Cheers,

Tom.

:)

Hi Jessy,

The shop is back in the UK and i'm currently in Thailand - unfortunately no cheap Hydroton for me!!!

However, there is quite allot of stuff that I can fly over, the first shipment should arrive on the weekend.

I'm just off now to buy an IBC and tomorrow up to these guys in Bangkok to get the growing media (if they have it in stock):-

I should be able to get the first pictures up on the weekend.

Cheers,

Tom.

Hi Tom, just in case they are out stock and you are in a hurry :-) I'm currently using the ones that are made in Thailand. Works quite well. Around 500-600 Baht for a 50 liter bag.

They have a retailer in Bangkok.

Thanks guys and thanks for the link GardeningDog - if I can't find the Hydroton replacement I'll give those guys a call.

I've also seen these guys, I may try to do a comparison and see which one performs the best:-

What I would really love to try is Seramis - I will probably bring some over at some point and give it a go:-

On houseplants and in hydro this stuff is superb, be interesting to see how it would perform in AP.

Turns out that the Mayom company above has ceased trading.

Hi GardeningDog,

Can I ask how much you paid for it and what size bags it was available in? I called and tried to get the info earlier but my Thai wasn't really good enough for this kind of conversation!

Cheers,

Tom.

The shop is called Vor-ra-pong. It's based in bangkok. Here's the Google map http://goo.gl/maps/8GcD

Tel: 081 916-4134

I paid around 500 Baht for a 50 liter bag. I think only 50 liters bag size is available. Cheaper if you buy more. I got it down to about 480 for 6 bags.

Clay Sizes: S, M, L, XL, XXL

The ones in the picture is L

GD,

Thank you - that is incredibly helpful.

I'll drive up tomorrow if they have the stock, hopefully will get the system up and running on Monday. Off to Rayong today to get a re-con IBC from Pack Delta - 3700 baht with a new plastic liner.

Cheers,

Tom.
