Hi everyone,

I came across aquaponics last year when doing a Permaculture Design Course... And after the blue pill had fully kicked in, I realised that farming fish and plants together in a closed system has an ancient wisdom to it. My girlfriend and I have now set our hearts on eventually 'doing aquaponics' full time :)

So I eventually managed to get hold of a couple of 2nd hand 1,000Ltr IBCs from a local farmer (They used to hold apple juice for cider and had a lovely smell :) I just cut them up as the winter set in, so now the days are getting longer I'm going to be fitting the plumbing and planting the grow beds this spring.

I'm trying to come up with the lowest input design, with modest yields. The main goal is to have a self sustaining balance, as opposed to the biggest yield. http://www.aquaponics.org.uk has an amazing new site which I hadn't seen for a while... Loads of PDF downloads and a really slick interface.

Cheers,
Darren

Hey Darren,

Good to see that permaculture designers are mentioning aquaponics as part of their courses. :thumbright:

They have done something different with their website, it's a bit strange navigating around it... DOn;t forget to check out more downloads here: http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/infor ... links.html
