Hello BYAPers, the bug has bitten me. I found out about AP on a tv show about a month ago and have been hooked ever since I first typed the word in the searchbar. I have registered after all this time lurking because I wanted to have a clear picture before posting. While lurking and reading up on the great info on this forum (and other forums too, plus the amazing modern day media that is YouTube), I have also been looking around online for IBC's, pumps, gravel and other stuff easily available around here. I have also spent a lot of time drawing (hand-drawing for the most), which has been time taken away from my very AP-unrelated studies I have since come to many different conclusions and have had some great ideas, and am now here hoping I can share them with you (the most important being about a cheap growing media) I am hoping that starting this adventure will be more than for myself and that it can also be helpful to the community and help spread the bug locally (north-east Italy). Be careful, soon enough everything will start to look like a fish tank and a growbed. Aquaponics will be a part of every conversation. And, you may not even get the first one built before planning an expansion/bigger system. Depends on where you want to locate your system and what your goals are. Hydroton/Expanded Clay is expensive but lighter weight. Gravel is cheap but real heavy. Take some pics of your hand drawn ideas and post them. Plenty of people on this forum to assist you. |

I already have plans for our unused 350 cm fiberglass boat, but that will be in the long run! I will try to scan the images, but also am working with my first google sketchups! Thanks for the warm welcoming. |

The 3d library in google sketchup has a lot of the components for AP already built. That saves a lit of time, and makes for great looking plans. That is especially usefull for helping others understand what you are doing. It wasn't until after I drew up my plans that my wife got on board. Now to do something about that pile of dirt in my patio... |

Thank you too for the welcoming. |
