Not sure if there's even a word for it, but Hi all I'm here to give it a go.

A workmate gave me a quick rundown and we spent much time researching and I have started to aquire some of the required bits n pieces. The workmate lives in a flat so we're hoping to setup something big enough to both grow some stuff.

Still waiting for confirmation on an IBC but then we're ready to go.

Welcome Patto... we prefer "aquaponicist"... but the US group seems to have reinvented the wheel as "aquapon"

I hate aquapon, sounds like a feminine hygiene product, I much prefer aquaponicist.

Thanks for the welcomes all. And a massive thanks to Lyndon for the local info about where to get an IBC. Picked up 2 on Friday. I only wanted to start with 1, but they cost half what I expected them to...so..I bought 2 :dontknow:

Now I'm wondering where to setup even a single IBC and how much support the GB needs. I wanted to leave the pallet on the bottom to support the tank (the area isn't paved/concrete), but I don't want the whole thing caving in once I add media.

Plan is to start with the simple cut the top ~30cms off the tank/cage, rotate top 90 degrees and flip. I have some 3"x2.5" hardwood to go under the GB for support. I'm hoping this will be enough for the media+water+plants.
