Hi, I am from Slovenia and I want to start AP in my country next spring. I read this forum for 14 days and I see that all informacions about AP can be found here. In Slovenia is nobody doing AP yet. I want to be first. So, start will be in 2-3 month. Sorry for my poor english. My last learning was 30 years ago. Iztok |

Welcome iztok... I think there was a member years ago... who claimed to be from Slovenia... but I doubt we'll hear from him now that someone from your country is actually here...  It's a bit of an "in joke".. that goes back to the start of the forum...

Thank you. My doughter study ECOINGENIRING in Ljubljana and she came to me with this projekt. I love vegetables, and of course meat too, but here in Slovenija nothing grow during the winter, so I decide to do AP. So, I will be only one from Slovenia, for now. I'll be glad if you help me with informations. I want to buy some literature about AP, but nothing is avaliable nearby, so can you help me- anybody. Thanks |

Go to the front page of this website... And you'll find links to lots of free downloadable information... including a brillant, comprehensive manual on building a system using IBC containers... Links to Joels manual of how to build his first systems, the "barrelponics" manual by Travis Hugey... and how to subscribe to the BYAP magazine... the only dedicated aquaponics magazine in the world... And of course there's the forum, and members here... who represent the sum knowledge of aquaponics worldwide... and those that arrive with new ideas, and ways of doing things differently... |

I want to introduce my sistem which I plan to build: There will be 2 sistems - 2 1000 lit FT - 2 1000 lit GB - 2 sink pumps, each 4500 lit/hour Everithing I will put into plastic green hous 3 meters wide, 5 meters long, 2,40 meters high. FT will be dig into the soil 60%. Sistems will work CF. 1. sistem with trouts- 5-10 kg at the start 2. sistem with carps- 5-10 kg at the start What do you say about my sistem. Thanks, Iztok |

I build two sistems, each 900 lit FT and 1.100 lit GB. I put crushed tiled roof into GB. 10 days ago I plant diferent sapling into GB and they do very good. Today I get testers and test the water. The results are: 1. sistem PH: 7,7 nitrites: 0 nitrates: 5 mg/liter 2. sistem PH: 8,0 nitrites: 0 nitrates: 5 mg/liter I didn't add any fish into FT yet. What do you thing about results? Fish will be trout in both tanks. I am concerned about PH, especial in FT 2. The water is the same, plants are the same, so? Thanks |

Hi iztok, Congratulations on the new systems. You will need to test the ammonia in the water also, and add some ammonia source initially to get the bacteria cycle started. You can use aged human urine, but perhaps someone else can suggest a better ammonia source. As for the PH, is there anything drastically different with the systems. For example, are you using different types of tanks? I work with a lady from slovenia |

Hi, DrLuke. I know that I must test the ammonian, but I have problem to get the tester here in Slovenia. I don't know why. I will try get one- must. I also know that I need to add some ammonian into the sistem. I think of UREA, it seems good for ammonian. I think the PH in second FT is higher because in the first GB I washed the roots from soil, but not in the second GB- I just want too test the growth with or without soil. I know that I must clean the soil, but I stil learning about AP and testing. It looks the 2nd GB growth is quickly. Today I try to find ammonian tester on internet. Say hello to lady from my country. |
