Hi all, I am new to aquaponics. I played around with a few ideas, methods and settled on a fill / drain system using an IBC container. The system has been up for just about 30 days. I am raising tilapia that I caught in a friend's pond and am initially growing a variety of lettuce per the suggestion of a local hydroponics store. Everything appears to be going well excepting a very high nitrate level. I posted to the fish board with the hope that somebody can offer some help. I'm glad to find this forum. Keith Attachment:

High nitrAte means add more plants. High nitrITe means add sea salt to reduce effect on fish and don't feed until it is 0 (or close too 0). |

Thanks for the info. In my single days, my buddies and I would go on river camping trips. It saw a bit of fishing back then but has since been retired. It doesn't get much use anymore....since the kids. |

I love paddling/fishing in your area…there is some of the best scenery and snook in the state. If you ever make it up this way {right off of 95 in Malabar} PM me to stop by for a visit. |
