Hi everyone, My name is Luke. I live in sydney. Have been browsing these forums for a couple of weeks and am hooked on the idea of aquaponics. I kept and built aquariums for many years in my late teens early 20s, and have been able to reuse some of my old equipement for my first 180L AP system, which is kicking along nicely with 5 yabbies and vegie sprouts galore. My goals are eventually to produce enough fish and vegies to replace my small family of 3's weekly purchases. One 600grams of bara a week, sometimes a basa, and small amount of toms, lettuce, zuchin, baby spinach, carrot, cucumber, brocoli, beans, and capsicum. I have aquired an IBC, 500L growbed, and have organise some blue barrels for my second larger system. I have put detailed plans for it up on my system thread (viewtopic.php?f=18&t=10807&p=299898#p299898). Please provide your comments. I have to build it asap as too many seedling have sprouted in my small AP system and I need somewhere to transplat them before they out compete each other (I never expected so many to sprout, I have always failed at raising dirt sown seeds). I hope to give back to this forum in help what I have already taken. Any sydney siders please put your hands up. Would love to be able to organise group buys on fish etc at appropraite times of the year. Cheers, Luke |

Thanks Rupe, Already had you sussed out as my fish suppliers Would appreaciate updated availablilty info on your stock web page. Seems that some info is from 2010, and other info Im not sure when it is for. What would you recommend as a good first batch (from fingerlings) if my big system is ready by christmas? Or even putting the fingerlings in my 180L tank now till the big system is cycled (have to keep them away from yabbies though). Cheers |
