Hi all,

Just registered but have been on the site for a bout a week reading as much as possible.

In the process of setting up my first converted IBC using BYAP's IBC guide, been fun so far.

At the moment the IBC is getting some sun, will be filling with water tonight and possibly getting the pump/beds going.

Looking at some starter fish, then I guess i'll try barra once it is cycled. Seeing the barra and trout at the BYAP store was awesome, especially the big barra they have inside.

yeah cheers mate, been reading your topic with interest the last few days.

To date ive cut the ibc, got water in it and the pump in tonight, have insulated it with astrofoil and shadecloth.

Checked the PH and it was below 6, so trying to raise it. Ammonia was at .5ppm and the rest were 0.

Not sure if that is good yet or not, have to read more.

Hi Kangaroodig, you can easily add shellgrit to the tank in an onion bag and it will release to slowly bring the pH up to about 7.4, easy as our :) Welcome to the forum and can't wait to see pics of the system.
