Hallo to all
After browsing this excellent forum for so long it became time to say hallo. I am farming in the Limpopo province of South Africa with mango's, avo's and tomato's. The tommies are grown in 2 nethouses, hydroponi's.
Now it became time to do aquaponic's as well. Only small, 6x3m structure covert with plastic, to get practical experience. Later on I want to convert the two nethouses to a NFT system.

My first question, for GB I can get galvinised 100L drums. They are 69x 46cm, if I cut them horisontally that will give me 2 GB's of 34,5cm deep by 46cm wide. If I go vertically that will give me GB's of 69x46cm but only 23cm deep (but more planting area per GB). Will that 23cm deep GB be a problem? I know 30cm is better. But with the last opsion I will use less drums and pipe work.

Thank's again for a great forum.

hi
can't help you with the depth question but you will have to treat or use liner on your drums.
Zinc is toxic to fish and the cut edge will start to rust.

Hi gorotsuki69
Yes the plan is to paint the GB's with Koi pond sealer.
