Post subject:  My pond and Koi

I have just finished the filtration of a koi pond, which I built last year when I had no internet or new anything about ponds. So I had to rebuild , crush, make some holes to some of it, all DIY with nothing to find here in the shops.
Went to SA and imported some koi, (june 2011) which due to the fact that I had no filtration were sick for almost 3 month. Thanks to the fact that I did some veterinary medicine I managed to cure very serious illnesses with the little available (human only) here and ended up making my own medicines that worked very well.
This is my pond and some of my babies:
I would like to build another one, soon that combines the principles of aquaponics with conventional koi filtration.
I would also love to promote true aquaponics here. It has so much potential.Image

Thanks! Still trying to design the new pond...and aquaponic garden and find the best way to use aquaponics with Koi, since koi have different requirements that edible fish or at list some of it.
Can some one tell me if this is also Aquaponics?

that looks like aquaponics to me.. kinda neat
the requirements for koi aren't really different than for eating fish, any more so than any specific species requirements would be different.. (like temps and such)
just make sure you use a high quality fish food

Some how most of the pictures of fish in aquaponics was in not very clean water, and the filtration was minimal. Koi are very susceptible to diseases due to heavy inbreeding.
I import my koi food from SA, and cook for them too. My Koi are spoiled rotten. He he he!

Fully agree with U! Plan to have 2 ponds, one for Koi and one for plants-floating like on the picture..., so the roots dont trap any dirt, and create anaerobic conditions, for the growth of harmful bacteria.
Just not very sure yet about it (the plant part), still reading....
