I came across the idea of aquaponics while doing some research on off the grid housing and it has really taken my interest. Have been reading all I can the last couple of weeks, including this board and decided to stop lurking and join.

I am looking to move in the new year, so hope to get a set up going then, most likely a simple IBC system but until then will just research as much as I can and no doubt ask lots of questions! The plan is to move to Slovenia in a couple of years, so while I will be trying to work out a good system for our temperate climate in the UK (already seen some of you doing it successfully), I will be trying to figure out how to best get it working for when I move there, with much colder winters and warmer summers.

Looking forward to getting going!

U should try Bulgaria too. Properties are cheaper, and people are very nice.
Life is much more affordable, and U can pick a house not far from the sea for UKP 5000.

haha, I know and Bulgaria would be lovely but my Slovene partner might not be so impressed that her family are no closer, would be nice to be closer to the sea though

Hi Tricky... You might want to check out the system that zsazsa has built in Hungary... I'm not too sure about climates across Europe, but may be similar..

Thanks EB, have already been plaguing and getting lots of good info from Zsazsa and Molj. Hungary is next to Slovenia and a similar continental climate to eastern Slovenia.

Am finding this forum a huge wealth of info, going back through alot of old threads, such alot to learn
