I'm retired now and thought I was finished with raising fish but I guess I've waded in to much fish poop to stop. I started keeping tropical fish at age 10 and have continued for 59 years now. I was a computer guy until age 50 when I went full time fish farmer, I started with a 5 acre Koi farm and ended with a 100 acre koi/tropical fish farm. You can check it out on my blog if your interested. http://guppydesigner.com/index.php/gues ... -fish-farm Fish were my main focus but starting in 1985 I experimented with aquaponics as part of my filtering system - after 8 years of tinkering I had a recirculating that really worked. I ran it with air only by learning how to move a lot of water using air. Now I live in a small home on a 1/3 acre lot and am building an aquaponics system to feed my family. I will raise 800 pounds of fish in a small 2200 gallon pool(5' x 20' x 2.5') with two stream filters(2' x 20' x 1') connected for filtering and growing plants. I've done this before but now I will tinker a little more to see if I can increase the bio load. |
