I'm completely new to this - except it was a hobby of my dad's after I was married (which means I don't know much about his system). He had the system where the plants were in styrofoam floating on the water's surface.

We are going to be building off the grid on 25 acres so I'll be looking around this site for the system that uses the least electricity. Do any use a pump less?

Also, I'm 57 and have arthritis, so the least amount of bending the better. SO, looking for the system that requires the least manual cleaning out of the fish tank.

Hoping there is an option for me.

We're building a smokehouse so I'm looking forward to our own smoked trout

Thanks...I'd better get to work studying!
