TCL trialled milk, it will come up in the search.

It looks like you are flooding too high in some of the beds? Either that, or there is too much splash coming from the water inflow.

Hi the move went smoother than i had expected it to

thanks for the info on the milk spray will have to find the time to spray the plants with it

and snakes i have a high Ph 8.2 tonight
so the iron is locked out absorbtion by the plants because of the ph level
i have added iron and potassium anyway to see if i can get some more iron into the plants

i have removed the strawberries tonight anyway and put them in the new veggie garden along with 3 large tomatoes and some of the zucchini seedlings too and tomato seedlings too

along with the high ph tonight the test results were normal but when i tested the ammonia and nitrate levels they looked amost the same very yellow

which was a little unexpected as i added 10 more goldfish on the weekend

anyway have to runa and do other things will post again soon

I went colour changes in the water test results, like those , not long ago........its good and bad........one its bad, because the filter material can't keep up, so back off from the feed for a bit........its good because it pushes the bacteria to catch up to be able to hold that load of nitrite...my understanding is the bacteria for the nitrite to nitrate process takes a bit longer.........definantly need more nitrate sucking plants in the system like tomies.....

All in all, it looks great , system just needs to catch up.......well done....how are the fish ( or did i miss something  )

Hey Jessy :)

the system has been zero nutes since it cycled and i have removed some plants (yes a couple of tomatoes) that were doing badly and the photos i wanted to put in my last post were a little different the first photo ( forgot to put them in backwards again :) was supposed to be the extra shot of the ph tube with the high range test in it

the fish are doing fine ( i have about 25 comets ) and didnt seem to be affected by the higher levels of ammonia nitrite and nitrates in the system last time

and i have planted more spinich and celery and im have been looking at adding some other plants too (running short on grow bed space too)

i have another tub the same but i dont have the bench space at the moment to add it to the system just yet

i must remember to add an avatar picture too :)

and here is a couple more photos

i have changed to a bigger pump ( now i need a bigger fish tank and pipes too :)

i have eaten the toms in the last couple of photos .. they were yummy

the celery, spinich, capsicum, chillies and lettuce are doing well despite the heat

and i will be adding some sweet peas and more lettuce shortly too

i hope the water restrictions dont get too much worse before i can get an ibc to collect rain water for the system and the garden

hope everyone is having agreat weekend that isnt to hot ( here is about 40 and the tank temp is up to 30 degrees centigrade so far today .. lucky there is only a tiny bit of ammonia in my system at the moment

have been enjoying the really warm weather here and today it has been raining and the tank tempreture dropped from 32 degrees ysterday to 22 degrees today

the fish are still feeding well and 3 times a day :D

i need to add a few more plants as the nitrate levles are still rising a bit but then with the change in the weather the plants should catch up shortly with no problems

silverbeet and lettuce are still making me lunch 4 days a week

and the capsicum and chillies are flowering and setting fruit so i should have lots of those soon and i havent seen so many flowers on a single plant before now :) i guess i might have to give a few away if i cant eat them all :)

hi everybody

im back to square 1 with my nitrate levels again as we have had a drop in tempreture and the bacteria have slowed down and my plants have soaked up what was left of the nitrates

tank temp was 28 to 32 a few days ago and is now 18 to 20 degrees c

so im back to feeding lots more and i have switched 1 feed from the goldfish balls to the high orca high protein food to see if it makes a difference with the nitrate levels and see if the golfish will grow a bit quicker for me

any other ideas to keep the nitrate levels up without getting more fish ?? ( personally i think im stuck until they grow a bit )

hope everyone in Victoria are ok ... thourghts to them all
