MC,

Yes, 12 little ones to go with my 12 big ones. I hope they are not getting bullied!

Hoping to get more regular feeds for the family.

So last week end was filled with Proud Parent days.

On Saturday, my cricketing son played his best game ever against the top team in the comp. We ended up losing in the last over of the match. We got more runs(1) than the opposition, but one more wicket lost. Stupid quotient rule, but they did use one extra pair of batsmen. My boy got a six off his first ball, then knucked down and got 20 runs off the two overs he was allowed to face. He and his buddy only had 3 dot balls. If they didn't hit the ball, they pretty much ran a single anyway. Turned the game on its head, no wickets, and 37 runs off their four overs and really gave the opposition coach the S?%ts.

I coach them, and I was so proud of their effort. they were not intimidated by these bigger, stronger or faster kids. The team played their best ever. The little girl in our team bowled her first ever, two over maiden spell. No wides, no nothing. She was so happy with her effort. To see the smile on her face when she finished was priceless.

Then on Sunday my wife completed her first triathlon. A women only event in Bunbury 350 entrants. 200m swim in the local swimming pool, then 10km ride and 2 km run to finish it off. I have been doing the start of the Couch to 5 km run program with her and got her to the point where she can run 2km with out stopping. So proud of her. The best thing was she got home and said she and all the girls enjoyed it so much, that they would definitely do it again next year. Only she said she wants to upgrade the bike from a sit up bike to a road bike. The addiction has started. Maybe I can start doing them again- its only 20 years since my last race.

I am keeping on with the C25K program, as I haven't really recovered from the enforced layoff of my badly torn hamstring in April. It has been the easiest way of making a come back I have ever tried. A program with no pain... so far!

Hey Doc,

Great news on the kids and the wife sounds like fun.

We just moved over to Auckland so I have spent the last 3 months doing no physical exercise. My midriff is definitely expanding! Will have to get out there soon. Will be building a shed this weekend then I can get the bikes out of storage under the house. Hopefully that will motivate me to get going. :D

The c25k sounds interesting, I will check it out. I do prefer sports to running but it's definitely a good base to start from.

Regards, Martin.

The wife found the first of each weeks program to be a bit hard, but not so bad she didn't want to go back in two days and do it all again.

Starts real easy,
Week one 5 min brisk walk, 60sec jog, 90 sec walk, 8 times
Week two 5 min brisk walk, 90sec jog, 2 min walk , 5 times
Week three 5 min brisk walk, 90 sec jog, 90 sec walk, 3 min jog, 3 min walk, 2 times
Week four 5 min brisk walk, 3 min jog, 90 sec walk, 5 min jog, 2 and half min walk, 2 times....

Four weeks in, no injuries, no tweaks, no soreness. Look it up on the web

I didn't bother with an app, I just downloaded the following pdf.

After 4 years of living in the house I finally got around to finishing off the front yard. 5 trailer loads of sand to the tip later, and then 2 truck loads of blue metal dust, and a wacker for about an hour, we now have a verge that should not receive complaints from the council.

Now I can get back to the AP.

Getting about 500gms of toms off my two plants every day. Now it has warmed up a bit, they are getting less floury, skin not too tough and with good flavor. My capsicums are small. Not much bigger than a golf ball, but there are heaps of them. Going to dice them up and chuck them in the oven with the weekends toms, some garlic and some herbs. Should make up a nice sauce.

Doc the front verge sounds like the perfect spot for a demo AP system.

How is the running going?

Hmm, perfect for it actually MC, except I don't have water or power out to it, and I'm not doing any more digging!

Running is going well. Wife has put her name down to run in the three waters running festival. I actually want to work up to a half and then a full, but happy to help her out with 5k's.

22 years ago I did my one and only (Sydney) marathon, and I want to prove it wasn't a one off. Maybe aim for the Busso marathon next year.

Hey Doc, got it on the digging. It's way too much hard work.

I did have a smile on my face earlier when I inquired about your running, thinking of all the hard work you were doing. Got home to find out that my wife has signed me up for touch rugby and she told them I've been playing for the last 15 years. I have no idea where she got this figure from, it is completely fictional.

I told her starting in Feb would prob be cool as I can start working on my fitness. I was told my first game is on Wednesday night. I haven't done any exercise for about four months. Moving countries took all my energy. I am soooo going to diiiiiiieeee!

Watch the old hamstrings. Most oldies do them first or second week in! Don't try and beat the youngsters straight up.

Yeah, I'm going to have to pace myself. The only problem is that I think my wife has made me sound like some kind of pro when I am not even an amateur and an unfit one at that.

Having said that I am still indignant about the "oldies" comment! :upset:

Chucked in some chicken to go with the roasted toms, capsicum, garlic and a bucket load of Thyme.

1/2 a kg of toms don't go far once they are roasted down. Might roast the caps whole next time and peel off the skin.
