the washing machine water pump is working very well. I am now thinking about adding some shrimp from my local river, I am thinking about flushing the system with river water before adding the shrimp. as they might not like the high ph bore water. will the shrimp control the algae???? :dontknow:

I have been living in outback QLD for almost 3 years in charleville, I met my wife here and started my iterest in aquaponics. However it is time to move on, soon I will be leaving as my wife is korean and hates the boring country towns and I do miss city livin, I will be heading to a small island south of melbourne, its called Tasmania. I hope to be able to see some established working systems when I arrive, if there are any in tasmania. I plan to leave in december

I think it could be the water splashing on to the leaf. Maybe the pee is burning the leaves. Is there anyone out there in aquaponics world who can help me

water splashing onto the leaves can cause that, especially if the water is still on the leaf when the sun is shining.. the water droplets act like a little magnifying glass and can burn the leaves..
you aren't putting the pee directly on the growbed, are you? it should go in the fish tank, or sump if you have one

:laughing3: I HAVE FOILED THE SUN'S EVIL PLANS TO RAISE MY WATER TEMPS :laughing3:
the water temp was at 37' today at 2pm, I guess that trout would find it kinda stressful. good thing I am cycling fishless. I used aluminium foil on the grow beds to reflect most of the heat. I was hoping to put shrimp in soon  however I think that untill I have lowered my water temp they might not like their new home. I will take the temp tomorrow at 2pm and see if my actions have made any difference

Why not Just pick it up and put it in the shade :dontknow:

Not sure "A" Trout would be very happy in a 20L Drum either.... 2 Goldfish would prob get bored in there quickly

I'd say its time to start looking for some more water storage if you plan on introducing any fish to the system.

Think of it liek this 10L Bucket of water in the sun... will hit 40+ c in a few hrs.

1000L tank in the sun will barely make 20c.

I was explaining to my wife today how water can absorb a lot of heat to raise its temp and if I had a bigger tank it would take a lot more heat to raise the temp.
And I am trying to make shade for the tank... As we are moving soon I will be unable to get a bigger tank untill we settle again
