Well the warm season has just started, so... As for now it is still just one of those ideas which don't seem get past the "I have a nice cool idea in my head" stage :dontknow: . Who knows what this year will bring :)

Some pics of the start of this year. As said, we began with a modest harvest! The cauliflower plants have been transplanted to the soil garden as well... I hope they will make it.
The comment regarding water being clear with the trout in the sump must be retracted. After switching to bigger pellets the water clouded. The bigger pellets disintegrate maybe? I can not see the fish anymore.

I have a suspicion that the salt level is having some adverse effect, plantwise. See pics below, I wonder if the necrosis is duw to the salinity...

Hoera! First trout this year! :headbang: Cleaned, gutted, beheaded and betailed 1 weighed 350 gr and the second 450 gr. 29 to go, some are still about the same size as they went in. With the biggerst eaters out of the tank, the rest will hopefully start growing a bit faster.

I noticed some trout are busy with a bit of fin rot. A bit bulgy eyes as well. So I made a salt bath of 12 ppt which they had for about 20 mins, and raised the system level to 6 ppt for the coming two weeks. I hope it cleares up... :( I really dislike fishies with illness.

Bringing this thread back from its 2 year sleep for a minute, just to say that it's been a very inspiring read! I have plans for a little system of my own, and seeing your methods to cope with our cold winters and hot summers has been very useful for me.

In any case, I would love to see an update from you, hopefully your system is still going strong.
